This is the last will and testament of me Valentine Devereux of Trepassey in the district of Placentia & St. Mary's Fisherman. I Valentine Devereux above named do hereby declare this to be my last will & testament. I devise and bequeath to my brother Michael Devereux $1200.00 (£ 300.0.0 Cy.) I give to my brothers wife Ann Frances Devereux $800.00 £200.0.0 cy) I give to my brother William Devereux $800.00 (£ 200.0.0 cy) I give to my brother Lawrence Devereux $400.00 (£ 100.0.0 cy) I give to my brother Robert Devereux $600.00 (£ 150.0.0 cy) I give to my nephew Richard (son of Lawrence) $200.00 (£ 50.0.0 cy) I give to nephew Richard (son of James) $200.00 (£ 50.0.0 cy) I give to my nephew Joseph (son of George) $200.00 (£ 50.0.0 cy) I give to the Roman Catholic Church of Trepassey $400.00 (£ 100.0.0 cy) I also give $400.00 (£ 100.0.0 Cy) to the Rev William Boon for masses for myself & friends (sgd) Valentine his x mark Devereux.
