William Dawe
This is the last will and testament of me William Dawe, fisherman of Cupids, Conception Bay, Nfld.
I revoke all former wills by me at any time made and declare this to be my last will and testament.
I give devise and bequeath to my eldest daughter Irene Dawe, the house in which I now live, barn and outhouses with land on which they stand together with that piece of land comprising what is known as the backyard, cabbage garden and lane situated between the fence known as the backyard fence and the main road of Cupids; else the eastern half of the land on which I now live, bounded on the north by the aforesaid backyard fence, south by a path known as the old slide path, east by the land of Walter Dawe and west by that of Joseph Connolly.
The western half of this same land I give devise and bequeath to my son Samuel Anthony Dawe together with the right of way to it through the lane and back yard above mentioned.
I further give devise and bequeath to my said daughter Irene Dawe the eastern half of land purchased from James Sheppard deceased, situated at South Pond, Roaches Line bounded on the north by the main road, east by waste land, west by John Sheppards land. The western half of this same land I give devise and bequeath to my said son Samuel Anthony Dawe. That piece or portion of this same property bounded on the north by the main road, east by the John Sheppards land and west by that of Henry Dawe deceased, I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Marion LeDrew wife of John LeDrew now of Sydney, Cape Breton.
I further give devise and bequeath to my said daughter Irene Dawe that pierce or parcel of land situated at Spotted Islands, Labrador extending from a rock marked W.D. eastward to the Brook, and running seventy yards from the water, and that portion extending from said rock marked W.D. westward to the said brook, and running seventy yards from the water, to my daughter Marion LeDrew wife of John Ledrew aforesaid.
The rest and residue of my Labrador property, land and fishing gear of whatsoever nature and wheresoever situated, I give devise and bequeath to my said son Samuel Anthony Dawe.
The furniture and all other things contained in my dwelling house already willed, I give devise and bequeath to my said daughter Irene Dawe, save and except the organ which I give and bequeath to my said daughter Marion LeDrew.
I further give devise and bequeath to my said son Samuel Anthony Dawe my store situated on the water side of Cupids main road together with everything contained therein.
I also give and bequeath to my said son Samuel Anthony Dawe, my Schooner "Energy" with all appurtenances thereto, but out of the earnings of said schooner "Energy" he shall pay to my said daughter Irene Dawe, the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars per year, and in case of loss or sale of said schooner Energy the proceeds from such loss or sale shall be divided equally between my said daughter Irene Dawe and my son Samuel Anthony Dawe. Whatever money I may die possessed of after all my just and lawful debts are paid, I hereby give devise and bequeath to my three children Irene Dawe, Samuel Anthony Dawe and Marion LeDrew to be equally divided between them.
I hereby appoint my said son Samuel Anthony Dawe sole executor of this my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand this thirteenth day of October one thousand nine hundred and twenty seven.
