Last will and Testament of
Hector Curtis of Harbour Grace
Master Mariner deceased
In the name of God Amen
That
I Hector Curtis Master Mariner of Harbor Grace in the
Island of Newfoundland being in good bodily health and of sound and of
a disposing mind and memory calling to mind the frailty and uncertainty
of human life and being desirous of settling my worldly affairs and directing
how the estate with which it hath pleased God to endow me with shall
be disposed of after my decease while I have strength and capacity so
to do make and publish this my last will and Testament hereby revoking
and making null and void all other wills if any and to my worldly estate
and property real personal I devise bequeath and dispose in the following
manner to wit.
I give devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Matilda
Curtis all my land and dwelling house and furniture situated
on East side of Noah Street in Harbor Grace in said Island of Newfoundland.
And all my money if any at my death and land bounded on the east by the
late
Robert Andrews land. West by Noah Street. South by William
Fords land.
North by my brother James H. Curtis land measuring

and
half the garden on the hill bounded on the west by Mrs Moores land
on the east by the late Henry Snows on the north
by Kitchen’s
land on the south by the road leading to Lady Lake in the Island
of Newfoundland
I do nominate and appoint John G. Martin of St.
John’s and my friend John Tapp of Harbor Grace to be executors of my will
and testament in testimony whereof I said Hector Curtis have
to this my will and testament contained on two or one sheet of paper
to every sheet thereof subscribed my name and affixed my seal this
day in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety seven
(sgd) Hector Curtis (LS) Signed Sealed
published and declared by said Hector Curtis as and
for his last will and Testament in presence of us who in his presence
and in the presence of each other and at his request have hereunto
subscribed our names as witnesses (sgd) John D. Martin (sgd) John Tapp.
Harbor Grace December 1st 1897.
I certify the foregoing to be
a correct copy of the last will and Testament of Hector Curtis deceased
