Will of Edward Cullen from Newfoundland will books volume 5 pages 27-28 probate year 1886

Last Will and Testament of Edward Cullen
late of St. John's Baker deceased

      This is the last will and testament of me Edward Cullen of St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland Baker.

      First I will that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses be paid by my beloved wife.

I devise and bequeath the sum of five hundred pounds currency now in the Savings Bank of Newfoundland equally among my wife and three daughters Ellen Margaret and Mary Ann to have hold and enjoy free from their my daughters husbands control and I will that my daughter Mary Ann is to receive her sum of one hundred and twenty five pounds only in such portions and at such times as my wife thinks well of giving it to her.

Third. Out of the remaining money in the Newfoundland Savings Bank I give ten pounds to the Roman Catholic Orphanage at Belvidere.

Fourth I devise and bequeath the house on the corner of Duckworth and Cochrane Streets to my daughter Margaret she paying the ground rent thereof and taking my wife to live with her and giving her a room therein and after my wife's death she Margaret to have all my right title and interest in said house.

Fifth The rent of the factory now held by me by Mr. Oke a tennant I give and devise to my wife together with all other property undisposed of. - Edward his x mark Cullen
Signed published and declared by the said Testator as and for his last will and Testament on the 31st of January A.D. 1886 in presence of the subscribing witnesses who in his presence and in presence of each other sign themselves as such the same having been carefully read over and explained - John O'Dwyer.       T.J.
