from Newfoundland will books volume 2 page 570 probate year 1865

In re
Richard Cronin deceased.

In the name of God Amen,     I Richard Cronon native of Ireland now in Newfound on Fogo Island being advance in years but failing bodily stringt but sound riason do hereby make his and last and tesment    I bequeth to Elizabeth Cronon sum in the Union Bank principle and intrest and all my goods and cittle nits and Oliver Cove Harbor house and garden I bequet all my cloas good bed and my small bed and every year after my death whomsoever have the the property is to have a Mass every year for my soul Let your aunt dail with you at her death witness Richd Cronon the 5th March 1862. Catherine her X mark Rian. John Power. You are to get 8 Mass said 2 for my father 2 for mother 4 for meself.

Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills. They are either hand-written copies or in later years typed copies of a, "last will and testament," written or typed by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing most of the time, no punctuation and also no paragraphs. The originals were kept by the executor.

We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be. However, in some of the very long wills, we have tried to insert paragraphs to make it easier for the researcher to read the document.
