Last will and Testament
of Michael Costigan
of St. John's Tallyman Deceased
.

This is the last will and testament of me Michael Costigan at present of St. John's Tallyman First I devise and bequeath to my grandson Michael Francis Nickerson my interest in those two houses situate in Prince Street in the town of Saint John's aforesaid for his use and benefit for and during his natural life to be held for him by my executor hereinafter named and in the event of the death of my said grandchild before the termination of the said interest the same is to go to the other four children of Ann Freeman Nickerson I devise and bequeath to my son Patrick my interest in the house I now reside in and the cooperage adjoining the same.
Out of whatever monies I may die possessed of I desire that my executor shall first pay all my just debts and funeral expenses and the balance remaining in his hands he shall distribute as follows
To my son Patrick eighty dollars To my grandchildren George Esther and Bella Nickerson eighty dollars each. To my daughter Johanna forty dollars. To my grandson Michael Francis Nickerson eighty dollars For low masses two hundred dollars. For two high masses for myself and wife eighty dollars. To Saint Michaels Orphanage Belvidere forty dollars. To the Reverend John Ryan twenty dollars. The balance remaining in the hands of my executor after the several aforesaid amounts are paid is to be distributed amongst my children and grandchildren in proportion to the several amounts of money left them under this my will. It being my will also that before the said distributions my granddaughter Mary Ann Downey now residing in Boston will be paid one hundred dollars - also my granddaughter Agnes Barter eighty dollars children of my daughter Bridget. I appoint John Burke Crier of Supreme Court executor of this my will. In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name at Saint John's aforesaid this 4th day of May A.D. 1890. Michael Costigan. "inclusion on the first page of Crier Supreme Court, being first interlined." Signed by the testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses John Burke E. P. Morris
This is a codicil to the last will and testament of me Michael Costigan bearing date May 4th A.D. 1890. I give and bequeath to my son Patrick in addition to what I have already bequeathed him in my will the sum of one hundred dollars. I nominate and appoint James McFarlane cooper & Moses Butt joint executors with John Burke Crier of Supreme Court of my will. I devise and bequeath all my household furniture to Michael Francis Nickerson my grandson and also my watch. In all other respects I confirm my said will In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name at Saint John's this sixth day of May A.D. 1890 Michael Costigan Signed by the said testator as and for a codicil to his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
