Last Will of Elizabeth Susan Cornwall
late of Dartmouth, Devon, England, widow, deceased.

      This is the last will and Testament of me Elizabeth Susan Cornwall of Dartmouth Devon England Widow. I give devise and bequeath to the following persons the following legacies for their own respective use absolutely and the same are to be primarily chargeable on and payable out of my personal estate namely

  • To my nephew John Frederick Coaker the sum of Five hundred pounds sterling.
  • To my nephew Albert Harry Coaker the like sum of Five hundred pounds sterling.
  • To my great niece Aveline Scott Ditcham the sum of Three hundred pounds sterling
  • To my great nephew William Ditcham the like sum of Three hundred pounds sterling.
  • To my Godchild Eta Alice Vincent Symes the sum of three hundred pounds sterling and also my large Dresdon China Vase my Rosewood Coat Table and all my silver plate and plate utensils
  • To my trusted friend Robert Henry Prowse of St. John's Newfoundland the sum of five hundred pounds sterling.

I give to the trustee for the time being of the Cottage Hospital Dartmouth the sum of one hundred pounds for the use and benefit of that Institution and I hereby direct my executrix hereinafter named to pay and discharge the last named legacy from such of my personal estate as may be applicable for such purposes and I direct that the receipt of the treasurer of the said Cottage Hospital for the time being shall be a sufficient discharge for such legacy.
All the rest residue and remainder of my said personal estate and all my real estate wherever the same may be I give and devise unto my dear niece Emma Julia Ditcham the wife of William Philip Ditcham of Dartmouth for her own absolute use and benefit. And I hereby appoint her the sole Executrix of this my will hereby revoking all former wills. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this third day of July 1894. Elizabeth Susan Cornwall. Signed by the said Testatrix as and for her last will and Testament in the presence of us who at her request in her presence and the presence of each other all present at the same time have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses. A Codicil to my will the said will bearing date third day July 1894. In the event of and should my executrix Emma Julia Ditcham to whom I have left the residue of my estate and effects die during my lifetime I hereby appoint my great niece Aveline Scott Ditcham sole executrix of my said will and leave to the said Aveline Scott Ditcham the residue of all my estate and effects. Dated 27th October 1897. Elizabeth Susan Cornwall. Signed by the Testatrix in the joint presence of us who thereupon signed our names in her presence.
