Stephen Eady and Augustus R. Gosse

 

 

Will of Henry Coombs
from Newfoundland will books vol 17 page 497 probate year 1938

The Petition of Stephen Eady, Principal of Church of England High School, Spaniard's Bay, and Augustus R. Gosse. Merchant, Spaniard's Bay, HUMBLY SHEWETH:

  1. Henry Coombs late of Spaniard's Bay in the Island of Newfoundland aforesaid on or about the 7th day of July A.D. 1938, having made and executed as and for his last Will and Testament, the paper writing hereto annexed marked "A" which has been duly proven upon the affidavit of the said Augustus R. Gosse hereto annexed marked "B".

  2. That by the said Will your Petitioner and Augustus R. Gosse, Merchant at Spaniard's Bay aforesaid, were appointed Executors.

  3. That the said Henry Coombs left him surviving as next of kin five sons vizi - Richard, Henry, Thomas, Kenneth and James.

  4. At the time of his death he was possessed of property within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court of the value of One thousand four hundred and thirty-three dollars and eighteen cents as shown by the inventory hereto annexed marked "C" which is a just full and true account of the said estate.

  5. That no probate or administration to the said estate has heretofore been applied for or granted.

Your Petitioner therefore pray that letters of probate to the said Will be granted to him and the said Augustus R. Gosse.
And as in duty bound your Petitioners will ever pray.

"A"

I Henry Coombs of Spaniard's Bay fisherman, retired, being of sound and disposing mind and memory Do make and publish this as my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills and testamentary dispositions heretofore at anytime by one made.

I hereby appoint Mr. Stephen Eady and Mr. Augustus R. Goose to be executors of my will.

I hereby direct my said executors to pay all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses as soon as possible after my decease.

I hereby bequeath to my son Richard Coombes all that piece or parcel of land situate in what is known as "The Valley" in Spaniard's Bay aforesaid and bounded on the west by land belonging to the estate of the late James Sheppard, on the north by unclaimed land, on the east by private road for my family's use leading to back land from *ence running further east on the north of land belonging to my son Henry Coombs, to unclaimed land and on the south by public road, with all erections thereon. 2nd piece piece or parcel of land situated on the south side of the aforesaid public road, on the east by unclaimed land, on the the south by lake knows as Bishops Cove pond, and on the west by land belonging to the estate of the above named James Sheppard with all erection thereon, but should my son James Coombes require a place to build and live on he is to have a portion of the above mentioned land for that purpose to be bound on the east by the above mentioned family road measuring on the south by the public roadside thirty yards running to unclaimed land to the north, also the same width on the south of the above named public road leading to the aforesaid Bishops Cove Pond.

I further bequeath to my son Richard Coombes aforesaid my** dewelling house horse and all its belonging, my cow and six sheep.

I also bequeath all monies remaining after paying all my funeral and testeminty expenses to my son Richard Coombs and Kenneth Coombes aforesaid in equal parts.

In witness whereof I have hereto set my (name) hand this ninth day of January A.D. 1936
