Last will and Testament
of George Cook Senior
late of St. John's Farmer
Deceased
.

This is the last will and Testament of me George Cook Senior of Saint John's in the island of Newfoundland Farmer. Do make and declare this to be my last will and Testament in manner following
First I give and bequeath to my son Thos. Cook six acres of land more or less situate on the north west of the hill, on the east of Hatchets Farm during his life time, and after his death I desire the same to belong to his son George and in the event of Georges death I request the same shall go the next of kin, the same not to be sold or mortgaged.
I also give and bequeath to my son Joseph Cook five acres of land situate on the north east of said hill during his life time, by paying to his mother during her lifetime the sum of one dollars per acre per annum. And after his death I request the said land shall be given to Edward son of Thomas Cook the same not to be sold or mortgaged.
I also give and bequeath to my son John Cook four acres of land situate on the north side of Logy Bay road during his lifetime and after his death to his son Frederick and in the event of no heirs the said land to go to James and his heirs, the said land shall not be sold or mortgaged.
I also give to my son James Cook six acres of land together with the barn and dwelling house thereon situate on the north side of Logy Bay road, I also request that the rent of said premises say one dollar and fifty cents per acre per annum shall be paid to my said wife Susannah curing her lifetime, the said land or premises shall not be sold or mortgaged and in the event of James death then to the next of kin.
Also I give to George Cook during his lifetime four acres of land more or less situate in the east side of Logy Bay Road and after his death to his heirs him or they paying to the aforesaid Susannah Cook the sum of one dollar and fifty cents per acre per annum during her life, said land not to be sold or mortgaged.
Also I give to Henry Rex Cook four acres of land situate on the west side of Logy Bay Road together with the dwelling house and barn which I now occupy during his life and his heirs together with the stock and farming utensils, he paying to his mother one dollar and fifty cents per acre per annum during her lifetime.
I also give to my son Charles Cook his heirs and assigns twenty four acres of land situate on the east of Logy Bay Road. Said land not to be sold or mortgaged
Also I give and bequeath to my wife Susannah Cook all my household goods, beds and bedsteads and other furniture belonging to me. -
And I also request that my said wife shall remain dwell after my death during her lifetime on the premises heretofore bequeathed to my son Henry Rex Cook, said premises not to be sold or mortgaged.
Also I give to my said wife during her life time two houses situate in Hoyles Town. also I give my said wife the sum of five hundred dollars, and also I give to William Cook the sum of one hundred dollars, also I exonerate him from all debts due me, all the rest and residue of my property or estate whatsoever or wheresoever and of what nature or kind soever the same may be and not before given, after payment of my just debts I do give and bequeath to my said wife and in the event of her death I give the same to my son Henry Rex Cook.
And I do hereby nominate and appoint William Davenport executor to this my last will and testament. - In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at Saint John's aforesaid this fourteenth day of February A.D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty eight. - George Cook Senior (L.S.)
Signed Sealed and published by the said Testator for his last will and Testament in our presence who at his request, and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto. Henry Rex Cook. Robt. R. Holden. Dated 8th May A.D. 1889
