Will of John Conway from Newfoundland will books volume 7 pages 255-256 probate year 1903

The last will of John Conway late of
St. John's Laborer, deceased.

      This is the last will and Testament of me John Conway of St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland, I give devise and bequeath to my sister Anastasia Butler all the property real and personal of every description of which I shall die possessed during her natural life. And at the death of my said sister Anastasia Butler it is my will and desire that my property shall be distributed in the following manner that is to say: -
I give devise and bequeath to my nephew James Butler all the land comprised in a lease to one William Kenny and now in his possession and situate to the Southward of land by me recently assigned to my nephew Stephen Butler as his portion of my estate to have and to hold the said land with the buildings thereon and the rents issues and profits thereof to my said nephew James Butler for ever. I give devise and bequeath to my niece Catherine Butler all the land comprised in a lease to the said William Kenny and situate on Hamilton Street (formerly Pokeham Path) being to the Northward of land assigned to my said nephew Stephen Butler to have and to hold the said land with the buildings thereon and the rents issues and profits thereof unto my said niece Catherine Butler for ever. I give devise and bequeath to my niece Ellen wife of Joseph Woods the land upon which the cottage now stands and in which I now reside and the garden thereto annexed to have and to hold the said land and cottage to my said niece Ellen Woods for ever.
And I hereby constitute and appoint my said sister Anastasia Butler and my nephew Stephen Butler to be the executrix and Executor of this my last will and Testament revoking and annulling all former wills by me made and ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twenty seventh day of February Anno Domini eighteen hundred and eighty eight. John his x mark Conway Signed published and declared by the said Testator as his last will in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses (having first been read over and explained to the Testator he being a ??man) Arthur Knight Archibald Knight
