Will of Thomas F. Connors, from Newfoundland will books volume 15 pages 228 & 229 probate year 1930

IN RE.          DECEASED

          THOMAS F. CONNORS

THIS IS THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT of me, THOMAS F. CONNORS, of St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland, Trackmaster, made this third day of April Anno Domini one thousand nine hundred and twenty nine.
I hereby revoke all former wills by me at any time made and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament.
I appoint The Eastern Trust Company of St John's to be the Executor and Trustee of and under this my will.
I direct that all my just debts and testamentary expenses be paid out of my estate as soon after my death as possible.
I give, devise and bequeath all my estate real and personal and of every kind and wheresoever situate unto my Executors in trust for the following purposes, namely:-
(1) To convert the same into money, except such amounts as are already invested in bonds and other securities and excepting also any properties shares and interest in properties specifically bequeathed under this my will.

(2) To pay for my funeral expenses including the costs of cutting an inscription containing my name and the date of my death on the tombstone which is already erected in my plot at Belvedere Cemetery, the total of such expense not to exceed the sum of Four hundred dollars ($400.00).

(3) To invest the sum of One hundred dollars ($100.00) and to apply the income therefrom for the maintenance and upkeep of my Cemetery Plot at Belvedere Cemetery.

(4) To pay the sum of Five hundred dollars ($500.00) to the Church to be expended for Masses for the repose of my Soul.

(5) to set aside the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) together with a further sum of Two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) being Life Insurance payable under Railway Insurance Policy, and to invest and keep invested the sold sum of Twelve thousand dollars ($12,000.00) and to pay to my son Alfred Connors out of the interest from the said Investment the sum of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) per month during his lifetime and I solemnly charge my said son Alfred that no part whatever of the money received by him for this fund is to be spent by him directly or indirectly for the purchase of any alcoholic beverages whatsoever.

(6) Upon the death of my said son Alfred to pay out the aforementioned sum of Twelve thousand dollars ($12,000.00) the sum of Five hundred dollars ($500.00) towards his funeral expenses if required and to pay the balance after deducting administration and other necessary expenses to the following. My nephews and nieces:- Annie Connors, Elizabeth Gillispie, Nellie McMasters, Ada Elliott, John T. Connors, Fred Connors, James Connors and Walter Connors.

7. To pay to my brother Martin Connors the sum of Two thousand dollars ($2,000.00).

To pay to my niece Beatrice Connors wife of John T. Connors, Shediac, the sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00).

9. To pay to my nephew James Connors, Moncton, the sum of Five hundred dollars ($500.00)

10. To pay to my niece Nellie McMasters, wife of John McMasters of Moncton the sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00).

11. To pay to my niece Ada Elliott wife of Robert Elliott of Moncton the sum of Five hundred dollars ($500.00).

12. To pay to my nephew Fred Connors the sum of Five hundred Dollars ($500.00)

13. I bequeath to Belvedere Orphanage, St John's, the sum of Five hundred dollars ($500.00).

14. I bequeath to Mount Cashel Orphanage St John's all my shares and interest in the Great Gull Lake and in the Silver Cliff Mining properties, also my shares in The Newfoundland Boot and Shoe Company and in the Marine Railway Docks Company.

15. I bequeath the proceeds of my Life Insurance Policy with the Canada Life Assurance Company to my nieces Annie Connors and Elizabeth Gillispie in equal parts share and share alike.

16. I bequeath to the wife of my friend Dr. A. Chisholm my property consisting of two acres of land in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. In the event of Mrs Chisholm predeceasing me, the aforesaid property is to go to the children of the said Dr. A. Chisholm.

17. I bequeath to my nephew Walter Connors of Moncton my gold watch and gold chain.

18. I bequeath to my brother Martin Connors my coon skin fur coat and my blue melton overcoat together with my four leather valises.

19. I bequeath the remainder of my personal effects and clothing to my nephew John T. Connors Shediac.

20. All the rest remainder and residue of my estate I give, devise and bequeath to my brother Martin Connors.

21. I authorise my Executor and Trustee to continue to hold such of my present investments as are not Trustee Securities and to invest and re-invest in non-trustee securities at their discretion.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto subscribed my hand at St John's aforesaid this third day of April A.D. 1929.

SIGNED PUBLISHED AND DECLARED by the said testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us both present at the same time who at his request and in his presence have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses, attesting the due execution hereof.
