Will of Andrew Connors, from Newfoundland will books volume 15 pages 69 &70 probate year  1929

IN RE.                                 DECEASED

ANDREW CONNORS

I, Andrew Connors, of St. John's in the island of Newfoundland retired commission merchant, hereby revoke all former wills codicil and testamentary dispositions heretofore made by me and declare this to be my last will and testament.

  1. I appoint the Royal Trust Company to be the executers and trustees of this my will.
  2. I give devise and bequeath unto Honourable George W. Johnson judge of the supreme Court of Newfoundland, my land and dwelling house situate on the east side of Victoria Street, St. John's at present occupied by me, together with the household furniture and effects therein contained, absolutely.
  3. I give and bequeath unto my cousin James Fitzhenry the sum of Two Thousand dollars ($2000.00). absolutely.
  4. I give and bequeath unto my cousins Patrick Connors and his brothers of Chatham, New Brunswick, Canada, the sum of Two thousand Dollars ($2000.00) absolutely share and share alike.
  5. I give and bequeath unto my housekeeper, Mrs Jane Parker, the sum of of Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00) absolutely.
  6. I give and bequeath unto the Rev Father J.D. Savin the sum of $500.00 absolutely.
  7. I give devise and bequeath unto Mount Cashel Orphanage St. John's aforesaid, absolutely.
    (A) All my property situate on the East side of Torbay Road, ST. John's aforesaid, and
    (B) The sum of One thousand dollars ($1000.00).
  8. I give and bequeath unto Belvedere Orphanage St. Johns aforesaid the sum of one thousand dollars ($1000.00) absolutely.
  9. I give and bequeath unto the the Methodist Orphanage St John's aforesaid the sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00) absolutely.
    9a. I give and bequeath unto my cousins Agnes Dooley, Minnie Dooley and Catherine Dooley the sum of two hundred dollars ($200.) each absolutely.

  10. I give and bequeath unto the Church of England Orphanage St. John's aforesaid the sum of Five hundred dollars ($500.00) absolutely.
  11. I give and bequeath unto the Society for the Protection of Animals of St. John's aforesaid the sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00) absolutely.
  12. I give and bequeath unto the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation St. John's aforesaid the sum of one thousand dollars ($1000.00) in trust to have masses offered up for the repose of my soul and the souls of my relatives.
  13. I give and bequeath unto my trustees the sum of five hundred ($500.00) in trust to invest the same and to apply the revenue or income arising therefrom for the care and maintenance of my family burial plots in Mount Carmel and Belvedere Cemeteries, St. John's aforesaid.

  14. The rest residue and remainder of my property estate and effects I give devise and bequeath unto the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation of St. John's aforesaid to be used for such church or educational purpose as the head of the said Corporation shall deem best.
  15. Should any of the devises or legatees under paragraphs 1.2.3.4.5. or 6 or 9a of this my will predecease me, the devise or legacy to him or her so predeceasing me shall not lapse but shall go to his or her personal representative or representatives respectively for distribution amongst his or her next of kin.

  16. I desire my remains to be buried in Belvedere Cemetery aforesaid beside those of my late sister.

As Witness my hand at St. John's aforesaid the 11th day of February A.D. one thousand nine hundred and twenty six.

and explained to the said testator, paragraph 9a at the bottom
of page one hereof and the words "or 9a" in the second line of
paragraph 15 on Page two hereof first having been added.
