from Newfoundland will books volume 9 pages 319-320 probate year 1911

In re
      Joseph Combden          deceased.

I Joseph Combden of Barr'd Islands In the Northern District of Newfoundland Planter, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make and publish this as my last will and testament. I hereby appoint Joseph Cobb and Thomas M. Anthony of Bard Islands to be the executors of my will. I hereby direct my said Executors to pay all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses as soon as possible after my decease. I hereby direct that my wife Amelia Combden live in my dwelling House during her natural life unless she marries again. At her death the dwelling House and fishing room to become the Property of Joseph Cobbs, Frank Cobbs, and Aaron Cobb share and share alike. I hereby direct that Aaron Cobb is to have no part of my House or fishing room as directed above unless he returns and lives upon the said room. I further direct that Joseph Cobb and Frank Cobb use the parts of my garden yearly used by them and I hereby bequeath the same to them at my death. I hereby bequeath to my grand daughter Emma Cobbs one hundred dollars. I further bequeath to my daughter Sarah Cobb one hundred dollars. I further bequeath to my grand children Sarah Simmonds & Ann Cobbs fifty dollars each I hereby direct that my cod-traps, herring nets, seal nets and cod nets be used by Joseph Cobb, Frank Cobb and Aaron Cobb on the conditions that they give me half a share annually, they to keep the same in good repair; and I devise and bequeath the same Cod- traps cod nets, herring nets, and seal nets to Joseph Cobb and Frank Cobb and Aaron Cobb but the latter forfeits all claims to the same should he not return to use them with the other brothers at Barr'd Islands. I devise and bequeath to Joseph Cobb Frank Cobb and Aaron Cobb all the rest and residue of my real and personal estate remaining at my wife's decease in equal shares absolutely. I further direct that Aaron Cobb shall forfeit all claim to any part of the rest and residue of my real and personal estate unless he returns within two years of my wife's decease to live on my Room at Barr'd Islands.
In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal at Bard Islands this 21st day of November 1903 Joseph his x mark Combden (LS)
