Last will and Testament of
John Colford of Carbonear N.D.
Cooper deceased

      In the name of God Amen I John Colford of Carbonear being of sound mind and memory though of feeble health of body do give devise and bequeath my worldly estate in the following manner and form viz: First. I give and bequeath to my wife Margaret Colford all the property which I now hold or occupy in Carbonear consisting of houses land and waterside premises situate on Main Beach farm and gardens on Valley Road with household furniture and farming implements to be held by her for the full term of her natural life and at her decease to be divided between my two sons Michael Colford and George Colford in the following manner viz:
To my son Michael Colford one half my property on Main Beach with two thirds of my land on Valley Road and to my son George Colford one half my property on Main Beach with one third my land on Valley Road. Also it is my will that my wife Margaret Colford shall not be empowered to sell convey assign or otherwise alienate any part or portion of the said land or property but that my sons Michael Colford and George Colford shall at any time be empowered to devise or bequeath each his part of the reversion of the same to whichsoever of my children or grandchildren he shall or may appoint.
Also I do constitute and appoint my son in law Philip Colbert of Harbor Grace to be sole Executor of this my last will and Testament. And I do utterly annul disallow and revoke all and every other former wills bequests or testamentary devises by me in anyway before made or mentioned constituting and ordaining this and no other to be my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at Carbonear this twenty eight day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty. Sgd) John his X mark Colford (LS) Signed Sealed pronounced published and declared by the said John Colford to be his last will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names at Carbonear on the day and date above written. May 28th 1880.
