Last will and Testament of
Gilbert H. Cole of Trinity N. D.
Justice of the Peace

      I Gilbert Humphrey Cole of Trinity in the Island of Newfoundland, British North America, Justice of the Peace being of sound mind and disposing memory thus publish and declare my last will and Testament. Hereby revoking and annulling all former dispositions of my property I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Isabel Cole the dwelling house in which we now reside together with the gardens outhouses and lands connected therewith. Also all that piece of land situate round Jones’s pond and fronting on the waters of the North East Arm of Trinity Harbor measuring forty nine acres; formerly known as Aubrey Crocker’s plantation, but more recently as the property of Thomas Holdsworth Brooking of London England and purchased by me from the Trustees of the Estate of the aforesaid T. H. Brooking, all my household furniture, beds & bedding, tools and utensils, farming implements with all my estate real and personal I bequeath to my beloved wife, and on her death, all my estate that may remain shall revert to and become the property of Ann Brenner, sister of my aforesaid wife, she the said Ann Brenner having full power and authority hereby to let sell or dispose of the lands, houses, gardens and other material as she may deem fit: And I do hereby appoint Robert White Esquire medical Practitioner jointly with my aforesaid wife as Executors to this my last will and Testament. (Sgd) Gilbert Humphrey Cole Signed acknowledged and declared by the said Gilbert Humphrey Cole as and for his last will and Testament in the presence of us, who, being present at the same time in his presence, at his request, and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses (sgd) John Green. (Sgd) Arthur Power.
July the ninth A.D. Eighteen hundred and ninety eight

      I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will and Testament of Gilbert Humphrey Cole deceased
