Will of Jane Sidney Slanks Clift

Last Will and Testament of
Jane S. S. Clift of St. John's
Widow deceased.

      This is the last will and Testament of me Jane Sidney Slanks Clift of st. John's Newfoundland Widow made this fifteenth day of March Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and ninety four. I hereby revoke all wills and codicils at any time made by me I appoint my son in law Edgar R. Bowring of St. John's Merchant executor of this my will and I give devise and bequeath unto him as such executor all the property both real and personal moneys. Estate and effects of which I am possessed or to which I may be hereafter entitled in trust to invest the principal on mortgage loans upon the security of freehold property or in such other manner as he may deem prudent with power to him to continue any investments already held by me and in further trust to apply the annual income arising from the principal sum of my estate for the support and maintenance of my son Hugh Charles Clift during his lifetime and upon his death then in the event of my said son leaving him surviving a wife child or children, to apply the said income for the support and maintenance of his widow and children and upon the death of the widow to divide the said principal sum amongst the said children share and share alike and in the event of the said Hugh Charles Clift dying unmarried or in the event of his widow dying without leaving her surviving any child or children then to divide the said principal upon the death of the said Hugh Charles Clift unmarried or upon the death of the widow of the said Hugh Charles Clift without leaving her surviving any child or children amongst the children of my daughter Eliza Ehlers Rendell share and share alike. In witness whereof I hereunto subscribe my hand at St. John's aforesaid on the day and in the year above written and declare the foregoing to be my last will and Testament (sgd) Jane S.S. Clift. Signed Published and declared by the said Testatrix as and for her last will and Testament in our presence who in her presence and at her request and in the presence of each other hereto subscribe ourselves as witnesses - (sgd) Dora L. Bowring (sgd) W. H. Greene -

      I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will and Testament of Jane S. S. Clift deceased
