Will of Francis Clarke
from Newfoundland will books volume 7 pages 132-133 probate year 1902

Last Will and Testament of
Francis Clarke of Freshwater
Fisherman deceased.

      I Francis Clark of Freshwater district of Bay de Verd do hereby revoke all wills, codicils and other Testamentary dispositions heretofore made by me and do declare this to be my last will and Testament. I give and bequeath to my brother Ernest Clark my cod trap and all gear thereto belonging my clothes and watch.
I give and bequeath to my wife Evelyn Clark all the money that I have deposited in the Savings Bank at Chelsea, Mass. U.S.A. and the amount of my Life Insurance Policy, also all other money of which I shall be possessed at my death to be deposited in the Savings Bank at Harbor Grace after my funeral and testamentary expenses have been paid out of it also the amount required for a headstone which is not to exceed twenty dollars. Now the residue so deposited in the savings Bank at Harbor Grace shall be made payable to my wife quarterly at the rate of sixty dollars per year to be reckoned from the time of my death. But should my wife marry again or die then the residue shall remain in the Savings Bank for the benefit of my child to be payable to him or her with interest accumulated thereon on coming of age. I also give and bequeath to my wife Evelyn Clark all my household furniture consisting of kitchen stove., carpet, four kitchen chairs four bed room chairs, parlor room set, bureau, bed bedding, bedstead, eight pictures and kitchen table. Now said furniture is to be the property of my wife so long as she lives in house with my father, but should she refuse to live with my father then the furniture is to be my father's until my child comes of age when it shall be his or hers. I hereby appoint my father William Clark to be Trustee and executor of this my last will and Testament.
In Testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand this twenty seventh day of November nineteen hundred and one (sgd) Francis his x mark Clark. Signed by the said Francis Clark the Testator in the presence of us present at the same time who in his presence and in the presence of each other subscribe our names as witnesses (sgd) George F. Hillyard. (Sgd) Samuel Jeffers.

      I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will and Testament of Francis Clark deceased
