Will of Maria Chafe

In re
      Maria Chafe          deceased.

      This is the last will and testament of me, Maria Chafe, at present of The Goulds, in the electoral district of Saint John’s West, widow of Nathaniel Chafe, made this second day of March A.D. 1907.
1. I give, devise, and bequeath unto my daughters Mary Anne, Sarah, Clara, and Hannah, and my two sons Samuel Charles and William Thomas, to be equally divided between them by my executor hereinafter named, all the moneys and properties of every description whatsoever of which I shall die possessed: To Have and To hold the same unto my said daughters and sons for ever.
2. I appoint the Honorable Sir E. P. Morris, K.C. executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my hand by affixing my mark at St. John’s aforesaid, the day and year first above written Maria her x mark Chafe Signed by the said Testatrix as and for her last will and testament, in the presence of us who in her presence, at her request, and in the presence of each other, have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses. (The same having been first read over and explained E. P. Morris     M. J. Mulcahy

This is a codicil to the last will and testament of me Maria Chafe, of the Goulds, in the electoral district of St. John’s West, widow of Nathaniel Chafe, bearing date the 2nd day of March A.D. 1907. After my funeral and other expenses are paid and a headstone erected to the memory of my husband and myself. I desire that whatever moneys I may be possessed of at the time of my death shall be distributed according to the bequests of my said will. My bed and bedding I leave to my grandson, Henry Chafe, son of my daughter Hannah Chafe. In all other respects I confirm my said will. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my hand this 14th day of December A.D. 1910 Maria Her x mark Chafe    Signed by the said testatrix as and for a codicil to her last will and testament in the presence of us, who, in her presence, at her request, and in the presence of each other, have hereunto our names subscribed as witnesses    John Hewitt    James Chafe
