Nicholas Newell - Thomas Beck

 

Know all men by these presents that I John Walsh of Saint John's in the Island of Newfoundland, fisherman, for and in satisfaction of the sum of fifty four pounds, five shillings, and eight pence sterling money of Great Britain by me due and owing unto Thomas Beck of Saint John's aforesaid Shopkeeper for amount of Protested bills charges and goods and merchandised had received, and for in consideration of the sum of ten shillings to me in hand paid at and before the sealing and executing of these presents the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge save for myself, my heirs, executors, and administrators, granted bargained, sold, assigned and set over unto the said Thomas Beck, his executors, administrators and assigns as well this present instrument and the annexed indenture and memorandum as also the buildings, lands, hereditaments and premises therein mentioned demised or granted and likewise all my estate right title interest, claim, property and demand of in or to the same either by force virtue or means of the instrument of writing hereunto annexed or otherwise howsoever and to receive and take the ??? and profits now due and which shall or may hereafter arrive therefrom
Provided nevertheless and it is on this express condition that if he, the said John Walsh, his executors, administrators or assigns shall make and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Thomas Beck his executors administrators and assigns the said sum of fifty four pounds, five shillings and eight pence in lawful money of Great Britain by two payments in manner following, that is to say the sum of thirty three pounds part thereof on the twentieth day of October now next ending the date hereof and the sum of twenty one pounds, five shillings and eight pence other part thereof on the twentieth day of October one thousand eight hundred and twenty.
That then these presents shall be null and void any thing before contained to the contrary not withstanding.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at saint John's aforesaid

Received the day and year within written of the within named Thomas Beck the sum of ten shillings being the consideration money within mentioned to be paid to me.
