Vol 17 page 171 Know all Men by these Presents that I Thomas Vautier of the Island of Jersey by virtue of a Letter of Attorney bearing date the forth of April 1769 to sell unto Mr. James Thomas of devon Shire in England all the possession of Philipp Vibert or Wiber of the Island of Jersey now laying in conception bay in new found land in the Harbour of Western bay bounded by ye West on ye Plantation of Mr. John Tacker and on the East by ye plantation of John Curtis being room that is ye property of said Philipp Vibert or Wiber and peter wiber share and share alike now I the said Thomas Vautier do Sell unto Mr. James Thomas for ever by virtue of the power given to me all the property of the said Philipp Weber in said plantation being half of the ground, Stage flakes and all other improvements that is made on said Room, This I dispose of without reserve in condition of ye sum of thirty pounds in good Bills of Exchange and two Quintals of Marchandable ? this is to be paid by the said James according to agreement before the expiration of Ye year 1773 and I the said Thomas Vautier do promise to agree to give the said James Thomas quiet and peacable possession of the said premises and to maintain him in the same by virtue of the power given to me by the name'd Philipp Webber the the owner in Witness whereof I have put my hand and sale this first day of June in ye year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy. Sin'd James Thomas Nicol, Tozer Lestir To all whom it may concern I John Pipon Notary Publick duely admitted and sworn dwelling in the Island of Jersey do hereby certify that the above written is a true and Exact Copy of a Copy of a conveyance made in Newfoundland the same having been examined by me and found conforming to the said Copy produced by Messrs Peter Vibert, John Vibert & Simeon Le Shirel which at their Request I have attested and Certified as aforesaid. Given at my office in the island of Jersey aforesaid where no stamps are used the 29th Day of March 1784 & in the 25th Year of his Majesty's Reign.
