(Very difficult to read) Be it Remembered that on the fourteenth day of March one thousand eight hundred and fourteen. The Honorable
??? Colebough, Chief Justice of the Island of Newfoundland &c. have recorded that on the seventh day of February ??? John Newell John McDonnell Ann McDonnell for herself and her son James Colbert now absent and Michael Colbert by his attorney James Simms all of Saint John's Newfoundland severally agreed to submit all ??? in separate ???? them the said ???? to the sum of ??? John Broom in Alexander Boucher in the event of the said arbitrator not agreeing they were to submit the matters in difference between them to Mr. George Hutchings whose award was to be final and ?? On them the above named defendants and that the above named parties pray that the said aware should be rendered (Rule of His Majesty Supreme Court in that Island. On Monday the twenty eighth day of February hath the award signed in the said John Broom and Alexander Boucher was read in Court. Some of the parties were illiterate were presented with copies of the award & were informed per the courts that if any of them upon consulting with their family had any objections to the said award being made a rule of court that ?? Would be heard on this day. When the award was again read in the hearing of the parties when the said award was confirmed by the Court and ordered to be recorded and made a rule of Her Majestys Supreme Court Newfoundland and it is recorded in these words.
