Nathan Knight - George Brown

 

This indenture made the first day of April in the fourteenth year of the reign of our Soreign Lady Queen Victoria and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty one between Nathan Knight of Mockbeggar Bonavista in the northern district of Newfoundland trader of the one part and George Brown of Bonavista aforesaid planter of the other part. Whereas the said Nathan P Knight being possessed of a dwelling house and garden, a plot of land for the erection of a store at Mockbeggar aforesaid, a lot of garden ground at Mount Prospect at Bonavista aforesaid and a small piece of land situate on the North bank of the river running from Beaver pond to Harbour pond and being desirous of disposing of the said same and whereas the said George Brown hath contracted with the said Nathan P Knight for the absolute purchase of the said dwelling house and several pieces and parcels of lands before enumerated at or for the sum of one hundred pounds current money of this island. Now this indenture witnessed that in pursuence of the said agreement and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds current money aforesaid to me in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents by the said George Brown the receipt or transfer is hereby acknowledged . I the said Nathan P Knight hath bargained sold releashed releashed granted and confirmed and by these presents do bargain sell releash grant and confirm unto the said George Brown all my estate right title interest property claim and demand whatsoever both at law and in equity in and to the said dwelling house garden plot of building ground at Mockbeggar my potato garden near the pasonage at mount prospect and also that piece or parcel of land situate on the North bank of the river aforesaid the house & garden surrounding it at mockbeggar being situate at the south west corner of mockbeggar pond and being abbutted and bounded as follows viz on the north east and west by George Brown on the South on and by the street and by Samson Mifflen also all that other piece or parcel of building ground situate a little to the west of the fore going lot but on the opposite side of the street being abbutted and bounded as follows, namly on the North on and by the street aforesaid onthe East on and by Samson Mifflin Esquire and on the South  and West on and by William Sweetland Planter also all that other piece or parcel of land or garden ground situate at Mount Prospect , being abbutted and bounded as follows, namely, on the North on and by marsh land and the parsonage premises on the East on and by Samuel Mifflen on the south on and by prospect street and by Peter Ward and on the West on and by the pasonage lane leading off Prospect street and by William Goodlands also all that piece or parcel of land situate upon the North bank of the river running from Beaver pond being abbutted and bounded as follows namely on the North on and by the late William Hapgood on the east on and by William Bayly on the South on and by the river and onto on or by Patrick Cormack. To have and to hold take and enjoy the said lands tenements or ??? and all and singular other the premises hereby bargained sold and releasled or otherwise ??? or mentioned or intended to be and every part and parcel of the same with their and every of their rights ??? and doth hereby warrent and defend and from time to time and at all times hereafter agree to warrent and defend all and singular the house garden, pieces and parcels of lands hereby bargained and sold or otherwise ??? or mentioned or intended so to be unto the said George Brown his executors, administrators and assigns against all persons whomsoever and of which said lands and tenaments the said Nathan P Knight hath put the said George Brown into actual possession there of by delivering him the same according to law.

Nathan P Knights full name was Nathan Parker Knight and Nathan Parker Knight was married to Ann Brown the daughter of George Brown.
The John Brown who witnessed this deed was the son of George Brown
