Vincent Costigan

 

 

V. 10, P. 412

We whose names and seals are hereunto subscribed and set being the major part of the Creditors to the estate and effects of Vincent Costigan of the town of Saint John's, Newfoundland, Dealer and Chapman who was declared Insolvents on the Seventh day of December now last past, in pursuance of and under the Act of the Forty ninth year of the reign of His Majesty King George the Third Cap 27th, do Certify that such declaration of Insolvency was repeatedly inserted in the Saint John's Royal Gazette, and due notice given to the respective Creditors which were known, and that the property and effects belonging to the said Estate have been disposed of for the benefit of the Creditors thereto, and that the said Vincent Costigan hath in all things conformed himself agreeable to the said act concerning Insolvents, and we do further certify that the Creditors whose names and seals are signed and set to this certificate are full one half in number and value of the creditors of the said Vincent Costigan, who have duly proved their debts under the said Insolvency and testify our consent to the said Vincent Costigan having such allowance and benefit as by the said last mentioned Act is allowed to Insolvents, and the said Vincent Costigan being discharged from his debts in pursuance thereof.
In Witness whereof we have for ourselves and Partners and Principals set our hands and seals this thirty first day of December one thousand eight hundred and sixteen.

Seal of the Supreme Court

These are to certify that the seal which is hereunto put & affixed is the usual & proper seal of his Majesty's Supreme Court for the Island of Newfoundland & thus the signature "D. Buchan Surrogate," on the back hereof, is of the proper hand writing of David Buchan Esq. Surrogate Newfoundland - and I do further certify that there is not at present any Chief Justice in this Island.
