Stephen Burton - Joseph Shears

 

Know all men by these presents that I Stephen Burton of Bonavista but now of Greenspond in the Island of Newfoundland Planter for and in consideration of the sum of twenty pounds to me in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery hereof by Joseph Shears Esq. Of Bonavista aforesaid Merchant the receipt or thereof I do hereby acknowledge have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell unto the said Joseph Shears Esq. All my right title and interest in a dwelling house store and garden being bounded on the South by the road on the West by George Browns house and garden on the North by William Browns house and on the East by Joseph Sweetlands House and garden Together with with all and everything there unto the said Joseph Shears Esq. His executors administrators and assigns against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrent and for ever defend by these presents of which property I the said Stephen Burton for myself my executors administrators and assigns have put the said Joseph Shears Esq. In full possession by the signing sealing and delivery here of this second day of September one thousand eight hundred and forty eight.

Bonavista To Wit

I do hereby certify that the fore going bill of sale was deposited in my office and with me by Joseph Shears Esq. of Bonavista Merchant on the Fifth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty two for the purpose of registration and that the there of was proved before me by Samuel Rowsell the principal witness thereto on this twenty third day of October one thousand eight hundred and fifty two and that the fore going is a true recorded copy of the said bill of sale.
Given under my hand at Bonavista this twenty third day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty two.
