This Indenture made at St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland the thirteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and one, between Robert Brine of St. John's aforesaid Butcher of the one part and James Keefe of Great Bell Isle, Farmer, and John Hogan of St. John's aforesaid, Cooper of the other part, witnessed, that for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to the said Robert Brine by the said James Keefe and John Hogan their or either of their Heirs, Executors and Administrators will and truly to be paid in manner following by the sum of two hundred pounds at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents and eighty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid yearly and every year on the twentieth day of October until the aforesaid sum of six hundred pounds is fully paid, the said Robert Brine hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened, released and confirmed and by these presents doth fully freely and absolutely grant bargain, sell, alien, release and confirm unto the said James Keefe and John Hogan and their Heirs and Assigns all the Farm and Plantation Missuage or Tenement with the barns, stables, outhouses, yards, gardens and premises with the appurtenances, thereunto belonging, situate on the Island called Great Bell Isle in Conception Bay now in the occupation of the said Robert Brine beginning at the South West Gate and ending at long Harry, together with a small piece of ground formerly occupied by Sylvester Top, also two mares and a colt, and also all and singular houses, outhouses, edifices, buildings, barns, stables, yards, backsides, gardens, lands, tenements, meadows, pastures, commons, common of pasture, trees, woods, underwoods, and the ground, and soil thereof, ways, paths, passages, lights, easements, profits, commodities, advantages, emoluments, hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever to the said Messuages, Lands, hereditaments and premises or any of them, or any part or parcel thereof belonging or in anywise appertaining, or therewith or with any part thereof used, occupied, possesed or enjoy'd, or known or part, parcel or member thereof, or any part or parcel thereof and all other the messuages, lands tenements, grounds and hereditaments whatsoever on the said Island called or known by the name of Great Bell Isle belonging to the said Robert Brine, with their and every of their appurtenances, rents, issues and profits thereof, and all the estate right, title, interest, use, trust, property benefit, claim and demand whatsoever both in law or otherwise of him the said Robert Brine, his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns, To have and to Hold the said messuages or tenements, land, ground, hereditaments and all and singular other the premises herein before mentioned, and intended to be hereby granted, sold and released unto the said James Keefe and John Hogan and their heirs and to their use and behold from henceforth for ever, and that it shall and may be lawful to and for the said James Keefe and John Hogan, their Heirs and Assigns peaceably and quietly to enter into and have, hold, use, occupy, possess and enjoy the said messuages or tenements, lands, grounds, hereditaments and premises with the appurtenances herein before mentioned, and every part and parcel thereof, and to receive and take the rents, issues and profits thereof and of every part thereof, to and for their own proper use and benefit, without any lawful let, suit, trouble, denial, eviction or interruption of or by the said Robert Brine, his heirs and assigns or any other person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim under him the said Robert Brine subject nevertheless to the full and due payment of the aforesaid sum of six hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain the consideration money aforementioned according to the true intent and meaning of this agreement, and on the payment thereof at the times and in manner before mentioned whatsoever to the said messuages, lands, hereditaments and premise or any of them, or any part or parcel thereof belonging or in anywise appertaining, or therewith or with any part thereof used, occupied, possessed or enjoy'd, or known as part, parcel or member thereof, or any part or parcel thereof, and all other the messuages, lands, tenements, grounds and hereditaments whatsoever on the said Island called or known by the name of Great Bell Isle belonging to the said Robert Brine, with their and every of their appurtenances, rents, issues and profits thereof, and all the estate right, title, entrust, use, trust, property benefit, claim and demand whatsoever both in law or otherwise of him the said Robert Brine, his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns, To Have and to Hold the said messuages, or tenements, land, ground, hereditaments and all and singular other the premises hereinbefore mentioned, and intended to be hereby granted, sold and released unto the said James Keefe and John Hogan and their Heirs, and to their use and behold from henceforth for ever, and that it shall and may be lawful to and for the said James Keefe and John Hogan their heirs and assigns peaceably and quietly to enter into and have, hold, use, occupy, process and enjoy the said messuages, or tenements, lands, grounds, hereditaments and premises with the appurtenances herein before mentioned, and every part and parcel thereof, and to receive and take the rents, issues and profits thereof and of every part thereof, to and for their own proper use and benefit, without any lawful let, suit, trouble, denial, eviction, or interruption of or by the said Robert Brine his Heirs and Assigns or any other person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim under him the said Robert Brine subject nevertheless to the full and due payment of the aforesaid sum of six hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain the consideration money aforementioned according to the true intent and meaning of this agreement, and on the payment thereof at the times and in manner before mentioned in good bills of exchange free and clear, freely and clearly aquitted, exonerated and discharged of, from and against all and all manner of former and other gifts, grants, bargains, sales, cause and causes of forfeiture, and against all other titles, troubles, charges and incumbrances whatsoever, made, done, committed or occasioned by the said Robert Brine or any person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim by or under him and the said James Keefe and John Hogan do hereby jointly and severally bind and oblige themselves their Heirs and Assigns, lands, good, chattels and effects unto the said Robert Brine his Heirs and Assigns for the due performance of this agreement, and the true payment of the consideration money aforementioned, in manner and at the times hereby covenanted and according to the true intent and meaning of this agreement.

In Witness whereof the said parties to these presents their hands and seals severally and interchangeably have set, at Saint John's in the Island of Newfoundland (where no stamps paper is used) the day, month and year first within written.
