Will of Job Carter Senior
from Newfoundland will books volume 6 page 333 probate year 1897

Last Will and Testament of
Job Carter of Greenspond N.D.
Planter deceased.

      I Job Carter of Greenspond in the Island of Newfoundland, being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say.

1. I give, devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Hannah Carter all my property situate at Greenspond consisting of houses and lands together with the furniture and fittings of said house not particularly named and otherwise disposed of in this my will during her natural life and at her death all the property hereby devised and bequeathed to her I give to my son Job Carter his heirs and assigns for ever, and further should my said wife Hannah Carter marry again then she shall forfeit all claim to the aforesaid property, and it shall become the property of the above named my son Job Carter.

2. I also give and bequeath to my wife Hannah Carter all monies now in my possession together with all monies due me by the Bank or elsewhere, except the sum of (Twenty dollars) which shall be paid to my son Job Carter after my death if not paid before.

3. I give devise and bequeath to my son Job Carter my two muzzle loading guns, all my tools and all my clothes and boxes.

4. I hereby appoint Edgar John Dominy sole executor of this my last will and Testament ratifying and confirming the same and none other to be my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I Job Carter have hereunto set my hand this Thirteenth day of October A.D. eighteen hundred and ninety six. (Sgd) Job his x mark Carter. Subscribed by the Testator in the presence of us and at the same time declared by him to be his last will and testament. (Sgd) Edgar J. Dominy. (Sgd) H. J. Read.

      I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will and Testament of Job Carter deceased
