Last will and Testament
of George W. B. Carter
of St. John's Gentleman Deceased
.

This is the last will and testament of me George W. B. Carter of Saint John's in the island of Newfoundland being weak in body but of sound mind and memory. It is my will and desire that all moneys deposited in the savings Bank in my name shall at my decease be exclusively at the disposal of my wife Jessie Carter. It is also my will and desire that one half of my interest in the property of Hutchings and Carter's Estate shall be lodged in the Savings Bank and shall be exclusively at the disposal of my son Charles Carter and the remaining half shall also be deposited in the savings Bank for my son Robert Carter but shall during the time of his undnown residence abroad the amount may be sparingly used by my said wife Jessie Carter who shall at her discretion spare a portion of it to my said son Charles Carter that all means shall be used to ascertain where my said son Robert Carter has gone and that he be requested to return to take possession of his property. It is also my will and desire that the sole management of Brook Lodge shall remain in the hands of my said wife Jessie Carter until the end of the present year and if after that period she should not desire to continue the sale of milk then two cows shall be at the disposal of my said son Charles Carter but the property furniture and other effects of mine at Brook Lodge shall exclusively go to my said wife Jessie Carter and I appoint my said wife to be sole executrix of this my last will and testament G. Carter Signed published and declared by the said testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us, who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses this 22nd day of May A.D. 1891 Charles H. Codicil

This is a codicil to the last will and testament of me George W. B. Carter. I give and bequeath all my land and property situate at Topsail to my two sons Robert Carter and Charles Carter equally between them. My said son Robert shall have the southern half the "Upper property" and the division of said "Upper property" shall be from Millers Path through Mares garden north of the cellar to the bottom path. The cellar however is to go to my son Charles Carter and the above boundary line shall run close up to the cellar. I also give and bequeath to my two sons Robert and Charles the "Marsh property" situate at Topsail equally between them my said son Charles to have the eastern portion and my said son Robert the western. I also devise and bequeath to my two sons Robert and Charles the "Inside property" situate at Topsail between them, my said son Robert is to have the southern side of a boundary line running from Thomas Drowins property by way of stone wall to eastern boundary of my land and western boundary of property of Boggan. The piece of land on the western side of Millers Road to south boundary which is also a portion of this Inside property is to go to my said son Robert Carter. I also give and bequeath to my two sons Robert and Charles equally between them the new lot No. 18 the western half to go to my son Charles and the eastern half to my son Robert. I also give and bequeath to my son Charles the land and property situate at Fox Trap and the grant of said land is to be handed over to him. I further give and bequeath to my son Charles the piece or parcel of land situate at Long Pond. Dated at Saint John's this 23rd day of May A.D. 1891. G. W. B.
