Will of Susannah Cake
from Newfoundland will books volume 10 pages 459-460 probate year 1916

In re
      SUSANNAH CAKE          deceased.

      In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost Amen I Susannah Cake of Point Aux Gaul in the District of Burin, Newfoundland, declare this to be my last will and testament.
      1. I give devise and bequeath unto my grandson Gilbert Cake my part of that Meadow situated at Blowing Hole.
      2. I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Florence Ann my sons Alberts’ Memorial card.
      3. I desire that the sum of fifty dollars be set apart from my estate to purchase a suitable headstone to be erected in St. Mary’s cemetery to the memory of my husband and myself.
      4. I give devise and bequeath my money in the Govt Savings Bank as follows:- after my just debts have been paid and the requirements of paragraph (3) carried out-

  •       (a) one third part thereof to my son-in-law Albert Hillier of Point aux Gaul.
  •       (b) Two ninth parts thereof to my daughter Alice Ann and if she be not then living such two ninth parts shall go in equal parts to such of her children as shall then be living (the children of a deceased child to take their deceased parents share).
  •       ( c) Two ninth parts thereof to my daughter Susanna Elizabeth and if she be not then living such two ninth parts shall go in equal parts to such of her children as shall then be living (the children of a deceased child to take their deceased parents share).
  •       (d) two ninth parts thereof to my daughter Florence Harriet and if she be not then living such two ninth parts shall go in equal parts to such of her children as shall then be living (the children of a deceased child to take their deceased parents share)

      Dated at Point aux Gaul this twenty-eighth day of February A.D. nineteen hundred and sixteen.    Susanna Cake.    Signed published and declared by the said testatrix as and for her last will & testament on the date last above written in the presence of us the subscribers who in the presence of the testator and of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as such witnesses H. Kirby. Rosanna Walters.
