In re
      ABRAHAM BUTTON.          DECEASED.

I, Abraham Button of Lead Cove, Trinity Bay, in the Dominion of Newfoundland, Fisherman, being of sound mind and memory, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in the following manner and form, that is to say:-

1^st.     I give devise and bequeath to my son William Henry Button all my lands with the exception of about twenty feet more or less which is to be sold.

2^nd.     I give and bequeath to my son William Henry Button two cod-traps, ten salmon nets, one herring net and one caplin seine, also my trap boats, fishing boats and all other fishery appliances that I possess.

3^rd.     I give and bequeath to my son William Henry Button my part of the dwelling house, together with all my outhouses, namely one barn, one work-house, one fish store.

4^th.     I give and bequeath to my adopted son Charles Sparks sufficient land on which to build a house whenever he chooses to build thereon.

5^th.     I give and bequeath to my grandson Abram John Button my bed, bedding and bedstead.

6^th.     My other household furniture is to be equally divided between my grand-daughter Mrs. Bessie Button and my grand-daughter Martha Ann Button.

7^th.    All my money in my possession and in the Bank or Banks at the time of my decease is to be divided as follows:- that is to say, one half of the money to be my son William Henry Button’s and the other half of my money to be divided in equal parts between my two daughters: - Emily Jane Button and Esther Mills.

8^th.     I give and bequeath to my wife Tryphenia Button the sum of one dollars.

9^th.     After the decease of my son William Henry Button all my property willed to him is to go to his heirs and successors forever.

10^th.     Should I during my lifetime build another dwelling house after my deceased it is to go to my adopted son Charles Sparks.

11^th.     It is my wish that my son William Henry Button shall within one year after my decease erect to my memory a marble monument the cost of which shall not be less than One hundred dollars, which sum is to be paid out of my estate.

12^th.     I nominate, constitute and appoint Elisha Button and William James Button to be my executors of this my last will and testament and hereby revoking all other wills and testaments by me at any time heretofore made. I declare this to be my last Will and Testament.

13^th.     I give and bequeath to my adopted son Charles Sparks the land, west side of Nathaniel Button’s stage now used by Simeon and Herbert Button, but belonging to me.

14^th.    In addition to the foregoing I have now decided to will to my daughters Mrs. Abram J. Button, Mrs. Samuel Mills and granddaughter Mrs. Bessie Button each the sum of Two hundred dollars ($200.00); also to my daughter-in-law Mrs. William H. Button the sum of Two hundred dollars ($200.00) to be divided between herself and children. The remainder of my money for my beloved son William.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto subscribed my hand at Lead Cove aforesaid this Sixth day of March In the year of Our Lord One thousand nine hundred and twenty-two.

Signed Published and Declared by the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in presence of us, both being present at the same time, who in his presence and at his request hereunto subscribe our names as witnesses attesting the due execution hereof; the said will having been first read over and explained to the said Abraham Button who appeared perfectly to understand the same by making his mark thereto in our presence.
