In re
William Butt deceased.
This is the Last will and Testament
of me William Butt, Senior, of Harbor Grace in the Island of Newfoundland
Gentleman. I hereby revoke all former wills and testamentary depositions
made by me. I appoint my son William Butt, Junior to be
the Executor of this my will. I direct my Executor to
pay my debts and funeral and testamentary expenses.
I give devise
and bequeath to my Grandson Francis Frost forever all That piece or parcel
of land situate on the Southside of Harvey Street in Harbor Grace aforesaid
and bounded on the East by land of William Ford and on the west by land
of Payne together with all buildings and erections thereon
and all appurtenances thereto.
I give and bequeath to my daughter Drucilla (wife of Levi
Frost) the sum of one Hundred Dollars for the sole and separate
use; and to my daughter Harriett Ann (wife of Thomas
Parsons) the sum of
one hundred Dollars for her sole and separate use.
I give devise
and bequeath to my said son William Butt, Junior, forever All That land
and waterside premises situate on the Southside of Water Street in the
west end of Harbor Grace aforesaid together with all buildings and erections
thereon and all appurtenances thereto the same being at present occupied
by me also all that land and premises situate on the westside of Church
Hill in Harbor Grace aforesaid together with all buildings and erections
thereon and all appurtenances thereto the same being at present unoccupied.
I also give and bequeath to my said son William Butt Junior all
the rest residue and remainder of my lands property goods chattels and
effects of which I may die possessed, wherever situate or being.
And I
hereby declare that the foregoing gifts devises and bequests to my said
son William Butt, Junior, shall be and are upon this condition namely -
that my said son William Butt Junior shall support provide for and maintain
my dear wife Elizabeth Butt the mother of my said son so long as she shall
live. Dated at Saint John’s this twentieth day of April Anno Domini one
thousand nine Hundred. William his X mark Butt Sr. signed by the said William
Butt Senior (by making his mark) as his last will the same having been
first read over and explained to the said William Butt Senior who
appeared perfectly to understand the same in the presence of us, both being
present at the same time who in his presence and in the presence of each
other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses. Joshua
