Will of William Butler from Newfoundland will books volume 5 pages 282-284 probate year 1888

Last will and Testament of
William Butler of Middle Bight
Planter deceased.

This is the last will and Testament of me William Butler of Middle Bight Planter
First, I appoint Alfred Butler of Middle Bight Planter and Donald Morris of Saint John's Barrister at Law Executors of this my will.
Second I desire that all my just debts funeral and Testamentary expenses shall be first paid by my said executors.
Third I will devise and bequeath to my son William Butler the piece of land and waterside premises now occupied by him bounded on the west by land of Joseph Butler, on the east by land of Taylor. On the north by the waters of Conception Bay, and on the south by land of Richard Parmiter together with the house, stable store, cellar, stage, twine House and all other erections thereon To have and To hold the same to my said son William forever reserving nevertheless the use of a portion of the said land extending from the said twine house to the water and free and sufficient access thereto to my other two sons Nathaniel and Garland in common with their said brother.
Fourth I give and bequeath to my said sons Nathaniel & Garland the use in common with their brother William of the said portion of land extending from the said twine house to the water and free and sufficient access thereto
Fifth I give devise and bequeath to my said son Garland the piece of land situate at Middle Bight aforesaid bounded on the east by a wood path on the north by the main road, on the west by land of James Butler and on the south by other land of me and James Butler together with the eastern half of the dwelling house on said land and also the cellar and old stable thereon. To have and To hold the same to the said Garland Butler forever. Save and except a portion of the said land extending from the east corner of new stable to the south part of kitchen garden which I hereafter bequeath to Nathaniel.
Sixth I give and bequeath to my said son Nathaniel the said portion of said land from the east corner of the new stable to the south part of the said Nathaniels kitchen garden together with the new stable thereon To have and To hold the same to the said Nathaniel Butler forever.
Seventh I give devise and bequeath to my said son Nathaniel the piece of land situate at Middle Bight aforesaid bounded on the north by the main road, on the east & west by land of James Butler and south by land of me and James Butler together with the western half of the house before referred to the eastern half of which is bequeathed to my son Garland To have and To hold the same to my said son Nathaniel Butler forever.
Eighth I give devise and bequeath to my said three sons William Nathaniel & Garland my share of the land to the southern of the before described land and bounded as follows, on the north by land of me and James Butler, on the east by Woodpath, on the west by Tillys Path, and on the south by Nicholas Petten also my share of the piece of land bounded on the north by land of Nicholas Petten East by Woodpath south by unforested land west by ungranted land To have and To hold the same to my said three sons in such shares as I shall hereafter divide the same and in the event of my failing to make such devision to hold the said land in a equal shares ????? that and ??????? money of which I shall die possessed shall be equally divided among my said three sons. Witness my hand at Saint John's this seventeenth day of May A.D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty four. William x Butler his mark. Signed by the said Testator as and for his last will and Testament in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses, having first been read and explained to the said testator and approved of by him Alfred Butler.
