Will of Maria Burridge
from the Newfoundland will books volume 10 pages 74 & 75 probate year 1913

In re Maria Burridge      deceased.

I Maria Burridge do hereby give and bequeath to my son Donald Morrison and my daughter Henrietta Francis conjointly my house known as 229 Southside St. John's The said Donald Morrison may not sell or dispose of his share of the said house without the consent of the said Henrietta Francis neither may the said Henrietta Francis sell or dispose of her share of the said house without the consent of the said Donald Morrison. I also give and bequeath to my son Donald Morrison my dining-room furniture including one large mirror To Henrietta Francis I give and bequeath all the rest of my house-hold furniture and belongings: I appoint my son Donald Morrison to be executor of this my will - Maria her X mark Burridge - Signed November 13th 1908 in the presence of the undersigned witness. Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills. They are hand-written copies of a, "last will and testament," written by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing most of the time, no punctuation. The originals were kept by the executor.

We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be.
