William Burke Senior

 

Will of William Burke Senior from Newfoundland will books volume 5 pages 243-244 probate year 1888.
This will is also written on pages 276-277 in this volume. The wills are similar, with only a few minor differences, and the comments of the registrar.

Last will and Testament of William
Burke late of St. Jacques Merchant deceased.

The last will and Testament of William Burke of Saint Jacques Fortune Bay Newfoundland 9th day of March 1888.
I William Burke Merchant of Saint Jacques being sound in mind, do declare this my last will and testament. I leave to my daughters Mary and Ellen whatever money owned by me in Savings Bank St. John's Newfoundland each to have an equal share while unmarried, if one marries I wish her to leave £100 one hundred pounds to the one unmarried. I leave to my son Thomas and to my daughters Mary and Ellen an equal share each in my dwelling house and furniture at Saint Jacques. I leave to children Margaret, Thomas Elizabeth Patrick and Susanna an equal share each in money owned by me in Union Bank Saint John's Newfoundland I leave to my sons Thomas and Patrick £150 one hundred and fifty pounds of money owned by me in Commercial Bank Saint John's Newfoundland and remainder of money owned by me in said bank I will to Margaret Thomas Elizabeth Patrick and Susanna each to have an equal share. I leave to my sons Thomas and Patrick my share in business at St. Jacques I leave to my son Thomas my share in a line of steamers running between New York and St. John's Newfoundland I here appoint John Burke and Michael Burke both of Saint Jacques, as executors of this, my last will and testament
