Last will and testament
of John Buckley
of St. John's Laborer Deceased

I John Buckley of St. John's in the island of Newfoundland do make this my last will and testament I will and bequeath to my daughter Ellen Oikil the sum of sixty pounds. To my grandson John Buckley, son of Thomas lately deceased the sum of twenty pounds and to the Reverend John Ryan the Reverend Patrick Delaney, the Reverend John Scott and the Reverend Michael Morris priests of this diocese the sum of five pounds each for the celebration of masses by them for the repose of my soul and the soul of my late wife Alice Buckley, all of these sums to be of the current money of Newfoundland And I further will that after the payment of the several sums mentioned above and the payment of my funeral expenses whatever money I may still be possessed of should I live until the twenty ninth day of May eighteen hundred and eighty eight will be placed in a bank and allowed to accumulate for the sole use and benefit of my grandson Edward Flynn and to be paid to him when he reaches the age of twenty one years. And should I die before the twenty ninth day of May before mentioned my grandson Edward Flynn will be provided for by another arrangement made by me some time ago therefore I will that whatever money of my estate may be left after paying all the bequests mentioned by me and the expenses of my funeral instead of being deposited in bank for the use of my said grandson Edward Flynn will be deposited as before for the use of my granddaughters Alice O'Neil and Mary O'Neil children of my daughter Mary, to be equally divided between them when they reach the age of twenty years respectively and should they, or either die before reaching the age of twenty years then part of the one dying or both to go to my daughter Mary O'Neil. I appoint John Sullivan of St. John's sub-inspector of Constabulary my sole executor. John Buckley (L.S.). signed in his and each others presence this 17th day of March 1887 witness Edward his x mark Flynn (L.S.) John Doran
I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will and testament of John Buckley.
