Last will and Testament
of Sarah Brown
of King's Cove Married Woman Deceased
.

In the name of God. Amen. I Sarah Brown of King's Cove in the District of Bonavista in the Island of Newfoundland being of sound mind memory and understanding but weak in body and mindful of the uncertainty of human life do with the consent of my husband James Brown make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following. I give devise and bequeath the sum of money deposited in the savings Bank in St. John's Newfoundland Folio 10307 in the name of my husband James Brown the said sum being twelve hundred dollars being the amount of a legacy bequeathed to me by my father Joseph Saunders of King's Cove afsd. together with such interest as shall be due thereon to my three sons James Brown Samuel Brown and Thomas Brown in equal shares and should either of my three sons afsd. die before then my wish is that the third part of the sum of money with interest thereon hereinbefore mentioned shall be paid to his heir or heirs. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my hand and seal on this nineteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty six Sarah her x mark Brown. (L.S.) We the undersigned were present and did see the testatrix Sarah Brown sign this document and affix a seal thereto, and declare the said document to be her last will and testament the said document having been read over to explained and approved of by the said Sarah Brown in our presence who in her presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as attesting witnesses William Kirby S. P. G. Missionary King's Cove John G. Hart accountant King's Cove. I James Brown Senior of King's Cove Planter hereby give my consent to the disposal by my wife Sarah Brown of King's Cove aforesaid of the sum of twelve hundred dollars deposited in my name in the saving's Bank in St. John's Newfoundland Folio 10307 with interest due thereon in accordance with the terms of the preceding will. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name on this nineteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty six. James his x mark Brown witnesses to the signature of James Brown Senior of King's Cove aforesaid the same having been read over to explained to and approved of by him William Kirby S.P. G. Missionary King's Cove John G. Hart
