Will of Margaret Brown
from Newfoundland will books volume 14 pages 21-22 probate year 1927

In re
     MARGARET BROWN.     DECEASED.

This is the last Will and Testament of me Margaret Brown of St. John's, Spinster, hereby revoking all other and former Wills by me at any time made.

After the payment of all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses, I give, devise and bequeath as follows:-

  1. To my Executor hereinafter named the sum of Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) to be applied by him in the celebration of Masses for the repose of my soul.
  2. To the Christian Brothers of Mount St. Francis, St. John's the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).
  3. To the Orphans at Belvidere Orphanage St. John's the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).
  4. To Mount Cashel Orphanage, St. John's East, the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).
  5. To the Irish Branch of the Holy Childhood the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).
  6. To the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. John's the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).
  7. To the Archbishop of St. John's the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) to be expended in repairs to the Cathedral.
  8. To the Right Reverend J. J. McDermott, of St. John's the sum of Fifty Dollars.
  9. To my step-brother Joseph Lynch at present residing at Number 7 Rose Street, Hyde Park, Massachusetts, the sum of Seven Hundred Dollars ($700.00) and also my Gold Watch and Silver Chain.
  10. To Mrs. Minnie A. Dwyer of St. John's my Cross set with Amber Stones.
  11. To Ann Rossiter Statute in Glass Globe of Our Lady of Dolores also Mahogany Work Box.
  12. To Margaret Higgins, Statutes of St. Joseph and the Blessed Virgin.
  13. To the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. John's my household furniture, goods and effects to be sold and the proceeds to be used in the work of the Society.
  14. The residue of my estate and effects of every nature and kind to my stepbrother, Joseph Lynch.

I appoint the said Right Reverend J. J. McDermott, Executor of this my Will.

St. John's this 20th day of December, A.D. 1923.
