Will of James Brown from Newfoundland will books volume 5 pages 166-167 probate year 1887

Last will and Testament of
James Brown of Tilton Harbor
Parish Priest

In the name of God. Amen. I James Brown P.P. of Tilton Harbor do hereby make and declare my last will and Testament viz.
1. I bequeath to my sister twelve hundred pounds cy for the education of her children.
2. I bequeath one hundred pounds strg to the Holy Infancy Society for the endowment of an altar or for any pious work connected with the society by which twelve masses annually and a perpetual remembrance will be secured to me. The transmission to be made thro Miss Johanna D. Allen Dublin if she survive, if not then some other of the secretaries.
3rd. I bequeath one hundred pounds strg to my brother Thomas that he may secure a few masses annually and a perpetual remembrance for the living and dead of the family.
4. I bequeath one hundred pounds cy to the new R. Catholic Church of Carbonear.
5. I bequeath fifty pounds cy to the R. Cath. Hall of Carbonear.
6. I bequeath fifty pounds cy to the new Presentation Convent of H. Grace.
7. I bequeath twenty five pounds cy to the Carbonear Convent.
8. I bequeath to the Mercy Convent St. John's fifty pounds cy for their academy at Littledale.
9. I bequeath forty pounds to the Belvedere new Orphanage St. John's.
10. I bequeath twenty pounds cy to the Convent at Conception Harbor.
11. I bequeath fifty pounds cy to Rev. M. F. Howley D.D.
12. I bequeath to Rev. Jn Scott and Rev. P. Delaney twenty pounds cy each.
13. I bequeath to Rev. W. Donnelly twenty five pounds cy.
14. I bequeath to Wm Brown Fiddason farm near Inistioque Co Kilkenny Ten pounds strg.
15. I bequeath the residue to my sister including all my private property viz books trunks watches writing desk horse cow and whatever stock there may be also four UB shares and a debenture for her own private use.
16. I will leave to her to erect a suitable monument say an old Irish Granite Cross in family burial ground ??? the selection ???? be left to my sister
17. I ??? to have twenty pounds distributed to charity.
18. I hereby appoint my sister and Rev. M. F. Howley D. D. Executors of my will.
19. I hereby transfer all my right title and interest in houses lands etc. at Carbonear to my sister. Signed. - James Brown P. P.
