Last Will and Testament of
George Brown of Kings Cove
Planter deceased.
In the name of god amen.
I George Brown of Kings Cove, Bonavista Bay in the Northern district of the
Island of Newfoundland Planter and Dealer do make and publish this my last
will and testament in manner following that is to say I give devise and bequeath
to my sons John and George all my wearing apparel in equal shares also debts
due to me in equal shares.
Also my stage, stores, boats, nets and seines in equal shares.
Also I give devise and bequeath to my son George the large meadow and the small
garden next to the meadow.
Also I give devise and bequeath to my grandson William Stephen Brown the inside
garden, also room enough to make a boat's fish on the fishing room hereinbefore
bequeathed to my two sons John and George provided always that he the said
William Stephen Brown shall stop on the room and help to keep the fishing room
in repairs.
Also I give devise and bequeath to my wife Jane all the money which shall be
left in the house after my funeral expences are paid. Also the old shop in
which I have hitherto done business.
Also the western half of my dwelling house with all its contents, also the
small new store, also the garden next to Johns house, also the cellar in the
garden, also the stable, also half the small garden next to the stable, to
have and to hold the above mentioned property during the term of her natural
life and after the death of my wife Jane Brown aforesaid then my will is that
the several items bequeathed to her shall be distributed as follows.
Namely the garden next to Johns house to Johns son
Edward, the stable and small
garden to Georges son Issac George the bed in Wills room to Leonard
son of George also the old shop to Georges son Leonard, also the western half of my
dwelling house to my son George besides and in addition to the eastern half
of my dwelling house which I hereby give devise and bequeath to my son George
Brown aforesaid.
Also I give devise and bequeath to my wife Jane Brown all the contents of my
old shop also all property not here in before mentioned and bequeathed. Also
all property of which I may die possessed whatever the same may be and wheresoever
situated, I do give devise and bequeath the same to my wife Jane Brown aforesaid
for her sole use and benefit.
Also I appoint my wife Jane Brown aforesaid
and my son George Brown aforesaid to be Executrix and Executor of this my last
will and testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed and set my hand and seal on this
eleveneth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty four at Kings Cove aforesaid.

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Testator George Brown as and
for his last will and Testament in the presence of us, who in his presence
and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
