Will of Mary Brien
from Newfoundland will books volume 10 pages 451-452 probate year 1916

In re
      MARY BRIEN          deceased.

      In the name of God Amen.    I Mary Brien, relict of the late John Brien of Topsail, Conception Bay, Newfoundland, being in perfect mind and memory but very weak in body do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say first I commend my soul into the hand of Almighty God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial according to the rites of the Roman Catholic Church; and as touching such worldly estate by which I am possessed, or have at my disposal, I give and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.    First I will and ordain that each of my sons James, William, Thomas and Edward Brien shall each hold and enjoy the portion of land they at present enjoy and no more; and my son Richard shall hold and possess all the land he at present holds; and the said Richard Brien shall be bound to support his sister Mary Brien now living with me and him as long as she lives and keep her as comfortable as his means will allow.    Also I give to my daughter Mary my bed and bedding, and after her death it shall be the property of my son Richard Brien.    Also that the Gully shall be common property for all my sons.    Mary her X mark Brien (LS)     Signed sealed and delivered as my last will and testament this thirteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety two, in the presence of us and of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses. Witnesses W. Swansborough     Samuel Gleeson.
