Last will and testament
of Charles Brett of Joe Batts Arm
Fisherman deceased

In the name of God Amen. I Charles Brett Senior, residing at Joe Batts Arm in the district of Fogo, mindful of the uncertainty of life & being of sound mind do make this my last will and testament. 1. I bequeath my fishing room, schooner "Welcome Home" & all my fishing gear such as boats nets etc to my four sons Aaron Brett, John Brett Wm. Henry Brett & Peter Brett. II. I leave my dwelling house to my two sons John Brett & Peter Brett also my household furniture. III. Of the money I may die possessed of I bequeath the interest to my wife Maria Brett after her death the money shall be divided in the following manner. Three hundred dollars to my daughter Julia Brett. One hundred dollars to my grandson Charles Brett. Fifty dollars to my grandson Samuel Brett and the remainder to be equally divided between my four sons Aaron Brett, John Brett, Wm Henry Brett & Peter Brett. I appoint my two sons Aaron Brett & John Brett to be the executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at Joe Batts Arm this 27th day of December 1890 (Sgd) Charles Brett (L.S.) Signed in presence of us present at the time who at the testators request and in his presence also in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses. (Sgd) James Rolls (Sgd) Mariah her x mark Brett.
I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will and testament of Charles Brett.
