Last Will and Testament
of Charles Bowring
of St. John's Merchant Deceased
.

This is the last will and Testament of me Charles Bowring, of St. John's, in the Island of Newfoundland Merchant hereby revoking all former wills by me made. First. I give and bequeath unto my wife Laura the sum of four thousand dollars. Second. I give bequeath and devise unto my executrix and executors hereinafter named the messuage land and premises now occupied by me, as a residence; and also my household furniture, books, jewels, plate, horses, cattle, carriages, harnesses and other household effects, upon trust, for the use of my said wife during her natural life, and after her decease, the same to form part of my residuary estate. And bequeath unto my said wife the further sum of forty thousand dollars. Fourth. I give bequeath and devise unto my executrix and executors hereinafter named, the residue of my property and estate both real and personal of every description whatsoever and wheresoever, of trust for my said wife to receive so much of the rents, issues and profits thereof as she may deem necessary for the maintenance and support of herself and for the maintenance support and education of my children by her begotten, until my said children shall attain respectively the age of twenty-one years and as each of them shall attain such age to pay to each out of the principal or trust estate by this clause created the sum of twenty thousand dollars provided nevertheless as regards my daughters that in case any of them shall marry before attaining such age with the consent of my wife, if living, and if she shall have died, then with the consent of the surviving executors hereinafter named, the twenty thousand dollars which would be payable to such daughter upon her attaining the age of twenty one years shall upon and from the time of such marriage be held in trust for the sole and separate use of such daughter so marrying and after the youngest of my children shall have attained the age of twenty one years my executrix and executors aforesaid shall hold the reversion of the trust estate by this clause created, upon trust to divide and pay the same share and share alike among my said children the children of a deceased child to take their deceased parents share, and in case any of my said children shall have died leaving no issue, him or her surviving, his or her share shall be divided and paid among my other children share and share alike, the children of a deceased child to take their deceased parents share, and in case my wife shall ever deem it necessary to receive and expend all the said rents issues and profits of the trust estate by this clause created for the maintenance and support of herself and for the maintenance and support and education of our children it is my will that the annual interest if any shall be added to the principal or trust estate by this clause created to be divided and paid in manner and form aforesaid to and among my children. Fifth. I appoint my wife Laura executrix and my brother George Edward Bowring together with any of my sons who shall have attained the age of twenty one, at the time of my decease, executors of this my last will and testament Chas. Bowring. (LS) Signed and declared by the said Charles Bowring as and for his last will and Testament in our presence who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereto subscribed our names as witnesses to the due execution hereof this fifteenth day of June A.D. 1888 Robert H.
