Will of Robert J. Bonnell from Newfoundland will books volume 14 pages 556-557 probate year 1929

In re     DECEASED.
ROBERT J. BONNELL..

I, Robert J. Bonnell of Lamaline district of Burin West in the Dominion of Newfoundland, Merchant, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.

  1. I hereby appoint my daughter Selina Martha Hillier of Lamaline to be my executrix of this my last will, directing my said executrix to pay all my debts, funeral and testamentary expenses out of my estate as soon as may be after my decease.
  2. After the payment of my said debs funeral and testamentary expenses, I give, devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate which I may now or hereafter be possessed of or interest in, in the manner following that is to say.
  3. I give, devise and bequeath to my wife Selina my dwelling house with the use of that is in it, and at her death to go to my eldest son Lewis Bonnell also the kitchen stove, beds and bedding for his use.
  4. I give, devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Selina the sum of five thousand dollars towards her support while living, and any balance left at her death to be divided in equal parts among my five children.
  5. I give devise and bequeath to my son Lewis the eastern section of my front land twenty seven feet from my store, and extending south to the water side.
  6. I desire that my house garage and land situated at No 8 Forest Street St John's be sold and the proceeds divided equally between my five children.
  7. I desire my store at Lamaline be closed and the stock be disposed of by sale and the proceeds be used to pay a bill at Bowrings Bros St. John's
  8. I give devise and bequeath to my five children in equal parts all monies left at my death in the Bank of Montreal, The Royal Bank of Canada, and the Bank of Nova Scotia.
  9. I give devise and bequeath to my son Harold George, my stores and stages with grounds surrounding same, also the wharf the furniture in the store such as weighing scales, ham slicer, and other furniture and fixtures to be left in the stores for his use.
  10. I give devise and bequeath to my two daughters Selina Hillier and Alice A. Hann, my cow, which is to be sold and the proceeds equally divided between them.
  11. My barn which is to be removed from the land upon which it now stands I give and bequeath to my son Leo Robert.
  12. I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Ellen Bonnell my organ
  13. I give devise and bequeath to my five children to be divided equally between them my investment in the United Towns Electric Company Limited amounting to twenty five hundred dollars.
  14. I give devise and bequeath to my five children my investment of one hundred and fifty dollars with accruing interest of three per cent per annum in the parish Hall Lamaline; also my investments of two hundred dollars in the Western Marine Railway at Burin.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 13 day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty nine.

Bonnell the testator, as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us, both present together at the same time and in his presence, at his request, and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses to the due execution thereof.
