Will of Samuel Blandford
from Newfoundland will books volume 8 pages 571-573 probate year 1909

In re
      Samuel Blandford          deceased.

      This is the last will and testament of me Samuel Blandford, of St. John’s Newfoundland, master mariner and I hereby revoke all former wills by me made.

First. I bequeath to my son, Sydney that piece of land on the north side of Circular Road, St. John’s, bounded south by Circular Road north by the railway land east by land occupied by one Lindsay, and west by land occupied by one Knight.

Second: I bequeath to my daughter Clara (Duder) the house, and land appertaining thereto, known as ______ ‘Chudleigh’ on the south side of Circular Road in St. John’s, to hold as her separate property during her life, and, on her death, the same shall go to her child or children If she leaves no child or children at her death the property in this clause mentioned shall go to my sons.

Third: I bequeath all other property whatsoever of which I shall die possessed to my wife, Priscilla, to hold as her separate property during her life; but to have use and expend as her separate property all the annual proceeds thereof.

Fourth on the death of my wife, all the property mentioned in the third clause hereof (other than annual proceeds) shall be divided between my two sons, Sydney and Edgar, and my daughter Clara.

Fifth    My niece, Maude Edgar, may have board and lodging free of charge in my house known as “Hopedale” during my wifes life, as long as my said wife shall please but no longer I appoint my wife and my friend Judge Johnson executors of this my will. Dated at St. John’s this sixteenth day of January nineteen hundred and seven    Samuel his x mark Blandford.     Signed, by his mark, published and declared by the said Samuel Blandford as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us the subscribers. (the same having been first read over and explained to him in our presence so that he fully understood the contents and meaning hereof) and we signed our names as such witnesses in the presence of the testator and of each other Geo M Johnson Percie Johnson
