Will of Margaret Blake from Newfoundland will books volume 5 pages 128-129 probate year 1887 Last will and Testament of Margaret In the name of God Amen. I Margaret Blake of St. John's Spinster do make publish and declare this as and for my last will and testament. First I direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses shall be paid. Second I give devise and bequeath to His Lordship the Bishop of St. John's the sum of ten pounds currency for the use and purposes of the Orphanage at Villa Nova near Topsail. Third I give devise and bequeath to the house & Superiors of the Convent of St. Michael at Belvidere the sum of ten pounds currency for the use and purposes of the Orphanage at Belvidere Fourth I give devise and bequeath to Mary Brien my servant now residing with me the sum of fifty pounds cy. Fifth I give devise and bequeath to the Very Reverend John Scott the sum of ten pounds for Masses for the repose of my soul. Sixth I give devise and bequeath to the Venerable Archdeacon Forristal the sum of ten pounds for Masses for the repose of my soul. Seventh I give devise and bequeath to the Reverend Patrick J. Delaney the sum of ten pounds for masses for the repose of my soul. Eighth all the rest residue and remainder of my estate whatsoever, I give devise and bequeath to my niece Mary Blake Canning now residing with me for her sole use and benefit during her life time and from and after her decease I give and devise the same to his Lordship the Bishop of St. John's for church purposes. Ninth I do hereby nominate and appoint the Very Reverend John Scott of St. John's as executor of this my will. I do hereby revoke annul and declare void all former and other wills by me made. Dated at St. John's this 18th day of June A.D. 1887 - Margaret Blake - Signed by the said Testatrix in our presence who in her presence and in the presence of each other have at her request signed our names as witnesses on the day and year above written.
