Will of Robert Kirby Bishop, from Newfoundland will books volume 15 pages 257 & 258 probate year 1930

IN RE.          DECEASED

          ROBERT K. BISHOP

This is the last will and Testament of me Robert Kirby Bishop of St John's Newfoundland.

  1. I hereby revoke all other wills made by me at any time heretofore
  2. I appoint my sons Harold Ashley Bishop and Monroe Bishop and my brother in law Thomas B. Darby B.A. B.D. executors of this my will.
  3. I direct that as soon as convenient after my decease my executors shall collect the proceeds of my life Insurance Policies in Canada Life Insurance Co, Sun Life Assurance Co, Imperial Life Assurance Co, and the Mutual Life Insurance Co of New York and any sums owing to me upon Promissory notes or other wise and from the proceeds shall pay as far as possible all debts due and owing by me. A list of such debts will be found enclosed with this my will.
  4. I give and bequeath to my dear wife Alexandrina Bishop all the household furniture and effects of every kind of which I may die possessed for her sole use and benefit.
  5. I give to my said wife my watch and chain and any jewellery I may be possessed of to be distributed by her to members of my family according to her own wish and judgment.
  6. I direct that my executors shall hold in trust for the benefit of my estate the shares in Public Companies, which I may be possessed of at time of my decease, with liberty to sell any or all of such shares and reinvest the proceeds according to their judgment, in other good Companies or securities.
  7. From the income derived from such investments or otherwise, I direct that my executors shall pay to my wife the sum of Fifteen hundred dollars annually in monthly or quarterly instalments.
  8. In any year or years R.K.B. that my said wife decides to visit England I hereby direct that my executors shall pay to her before she leaves St John's (provided they hold sufficient available funds) a supplemental sum of Three hundred dollars towards her travelling expenses.
  9. Within one year of the date of my decease I direct that my capital or assets in the business of H and M Bishop shall be transferred to and shall become the property of my sons and grandson in the following proportion
    To Harold A. BISHOP   Forty per cent
    To Monroe Bishop          Forty percent
    To Robert Bishop           Twenty per cent.
  10. As soon as it may be found suitable and convenient by my executors but not later than four two R.K.B. years after my decease, I direct that as far as may be found necessary my Executors shall realise my estate and shall, after paying any debts then due and owing by me, and all legal or other expenses incurred shall pay over all monies received to my wife, and shall transfer to her same, and give her possession of new certificates for all shares in Public Companies held by me which in their judgment should be retained by my wife.
