Last Will and Testament of
Elizabeth Bishop of Burin
Widow deceased.
This is the last will and Testament of me Elizabeth
Bishop of Burin Newfoundland. I hereby appoint my son Robert
H. Bishop of St.
John's merchant sole executor of this my will and I direct as follows.
First.
From the monies of my estate my said executor shall pay to my daughter Jessie
Darby the sum of Five hundred dollars To my sister Sarah Bradley Two hundred
dollars To my Granddaughter Elizabeth Inkpen two hundred dollars and to my
sister in law Charlotte Hann of Wimbledon England one hundred dollars. Second.
I give and bequeath to my executor in trust all my household furniture and
effects together with my clothing and personal property of all descriptions
to be divided by him (or the value thereof) and apportioned to my daughters
Susannah, Adelaide, Charlotte, Julia and Jessie in equal shares. Third.
I give and bequeath to my Grandson George L. Inkpen the Gold watch of my late
husband. Fourth. I direct that stocks in public companies now held
by my son Robert for the benefit of my estate shall be realized at their market
value and the proceeds together with other invested monies shall after payment
of any debts due by me at time of my decease and my funeral expense, be divided
and paid as follows in equal shares to my daughters Susannah Adelaide
Charlotte Julia and Jessie and to my Granddaughter Stella
M. Bishop one sixth each.
Fifth.
I direct that my executor shall on the 31st day of December first succeeding
my decease close up the partnership business now carried on by my brother in
law Daniel Bishop & myself under the style or firm Bishop & Co and
liquidate the said business in so far as may be necessary to withdraw therefrom
any balance which may appear to belong to me upon a fair and equitable valuation
of the liabilities and assets of said firm but my said executor may upon receiving
proper security allow the said Daniel Bishop four years, should be desire it,
for the payment of such sum, with interest at six per cent per annum. Sixth.
The residue of my estate comprising dwelling house, stores stages flakes land
premises tools utensils or property of any and every description I give and
bequeath to my executor in trust to be rented for a period not exceeding ten
years or sold as he may deem best, the proceeds arising from rentals sale or
otherwise of said property and premises together with all monies derived from
a closing of the partnership business as described under paragraph Five which
shall as may be convenient to him be divided and paid over to the beneficiaries
named in paragraph Four hereof in equal shares of one sixth each. Witness
my hand and seal this seventh day of July anno Domini nineteen hundred and
one (sgd) Elizabeth Bishop (LS). Signed and sealed by the Testator in our presence
on the date above written (sgd) C. L. Bishop. (Sgd) George
Herald.
I certify the foregoing to be a correct
copy of the last will and Testament of Elizabeth Bishop deceased
