Will of Alice Berney from Newfoundland will books volume 7 page 300-301probate year 1903.

The last will of Alice Berney
late of Carbonear, widow, deceased
.

          In the name of God. Amen. I, Alice Berney of Carbonear in the island of Newfoundland being of sound mind and memory do this fifteenth day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and two make and publish this my last will and testament in the manner and form following that is to say:
First. I give and bequeath, after all my lawful debts, are paid, unto my niece Mary Eliza McCarthy the sum of four hundred dollars. Item. I give and bequeath unto my nephew Richard Henry McCarthy the sum of one hundred dollars. And also I will and order that should my nephew the said Richard Henry McCarthy not return to Newfoundland within five years from the date of my death, to take possession of, or otherwise make claim to the said one hundred dollars which I give and bequeath to him in this my last will and Testament the said one hundred dollars shall become the property of my nephew the Rev. Felix D. McCarthy Item. I give and bequeath unto my nephew the Rev. Felix D. McCarthy the sum of four hundred dollars. Item. I give and bequeath unto my nephew the said Rev. Felix D. McCarthy the sum of one hundred dollars to be used by him for masses for the repose of my soul.
Secondly I will and give order that should any other sums of money, besides the ones referred to above belong to me at the time of my death, they, the said sums of money shall, after my demise, become the property of my nephew, the Rev. Felix D. McCarthy.
Thirdly, having sold my two houses and land situate on Water Street, Harbor Grace for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred dollars I will and order that the said sum of six hundred dollars, after deducting therefrom the expenses of sale after my demise, equally divided between my nephew, the said Rev. Felix D. McCarthy and my niece Mrs. D. A. Ryan and I do hereby ordain, constitute and appoint the Rev. Felix D. McCarthy of Carbonear sole executor to this my last will and testament.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set and subscribed my hand and seal the day and year first above written. Alice Berney Signed sealed, published, pronounced, and declared by the said Alice Berny as her last will and testament in the presence of us who in her presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses hereunto. John Jones. Michael Greely.

          I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the original will of Alice Berny
