Will of Reuben James Bemister
from Newfoundland will books volume 9 pages 4-5 probate year 1909

In re
      Reuben J. Bemister         deceased.

      Know all men by these Presents. That I Reuben J. Bemister of New Perlican in the Island of Newfoundland being in ill health but of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make and publish this, my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made. And as to my worldly estate, and all the property, real personal or mixed of which I shall die seized and possessed, or to which I shall be entitled at the time of my decease. I devise, bequeath, and dispose thereof in the manner following, to wit -
      First My will is that all my just debts and funeral expenses shall be paid out of my estate, as soon after my decease as shall be found convenient
      Item I give devise and bequeath to my son William Fredrick, my horse and carriage and its appurtenances. I also give him my land situated on the south side, bounded by the Main Road on the North, Samuel Hobbse’s land on the south, by Hobbse’s Lane on the East and the Country Road on the west also the piece of land known as the “Island Farm” to have and to hold the same to his executors and assigns for ever    I also give him my household furniture money now in the Bank of Montreal at St. John’s, the amount of my Life Insurance in the Masonic Society and the money with me in the house at my decease
      And, lastly, I do nominate and appoint my said son William Frederick to be the administrator of this my last will and testament In Testimony whereof, I the said Reuben Jas Bemister have to this my last will and testament contained one sheet of paper subscribed my name and affixed my seal this nineteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and nine    Reuben Jas Bemister his x mark (LS)     Signed sealed published and declared by the said Reuben Jas Bemister as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence, and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto    Peter James Matthews    Willis Pittman    L. Pittman (Comr. affidavits)
