Last Will and Testament of
Alfred Beaton of Exploits River
Farmer deceased.
Know all men by these presents that I Alfred
Beaton, of Upper Sandy Point, Exploits River, Newfoundland Farmer,
being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make and publish this my last
will and Testament.
1st. I give devise and bequeath to my son William
Beaton one half of my property cleared and uncleared, situate at Wigwam
Point, and held by grant and containing 12 acres more or less.
2nd. I give
devise and bequeath to my son Thomas Beaton of Upper Sandy
Point, land to the extent of 200 yards frontage, said property being the same
upon which his house now stands, and extending back to limit of land held by
me
3rd I give devise and bequeath to my son George Beaton of
Upper Sandy Point, land to the extent of 200 yards frontage, said property
being the same upon which his house now stands and extending back to limit
of land held by me and adjoining that of Thos. Beaton
4th I give devise
and bequeath to my son Alfred Beaton one half of my property,
cleared and uncleared situate at Wigwam Point and held by grant, and containing
12 acres more or less.
5th. I give devise and bequeath to my two youngest sons
Frederick and James Beaton jointly the remainder
of my property, consisting of houses, nets, boats, tools, cattle, chattels
and everything appertaining to property at Upper Sandy Point, not otherwise
disposed of by this my last will and testament. Also my property in Peters
Arm consisting of grass meadows, or pasture land and containing two acres more
or less, and held by grant now in my possession. I also hold bill of sale for
property now occupied by me at Upper Sandy Point. The whole as mentioned in
this 5th clause to revert to Frederick and James
Beaton as aforesaid conditionally
which is, that they support myself and my wife for the remainder of our days
if required of them.
6th I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Susan Seabright
wife of Elias Seabright Exploits River, eighty dollars ($80.00) from
the amount in Govt Savings Bank, at my death.
7th I give devise and bequeath
to my beloved wife Elizabeth Beaton the interest upon the remaining money in
Savings Bank (after $80.00 have been handed over to my daughter the aforesaid
Susan Seabright) until her death.
8th I give devise & bequeath
the remaining capital in Bank at my wife's death to Susan Seabright,
wife of Elias Seabright and Tryphena Mary wife of James Beaton and to Frederick
Beaton's
wife should he marry, proportionately, one third to each if they survive, otherwise
left to the discretion of my executors.
9th I appoint John Gill Senr of Exploits River and Alex
Constable of Norris Arm,
executors to this my last will and testament.
In witness whereof
I the said Alfred Beaton set my hand and seal hereunto this
2nd day of July in the year of our Lord 1900. (Sgd) Alfred
his x mark Beaton.
Signed sealed published and declared by the said Alfred Beaton as and for his
last will and testament in presence of us who in his presence and in the presence
of each other and at his request have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
