To the Honourable the Supreme Court of Newfoundland or to one of the Honourable the Judges thereof.
The Petition of Fannie J. Bastow of Saint John's, Widow

HUMBLY SHEWETH
  1. That Marldon A. Bastow late of St. John's aforesaid Merchant, Retired, deceased, died there on or about the 23rd. day of June A. D. 1935 having previously made and executed his last Will and Testament which is hereto annexed marked "A" and of which he appointed your petitioner executrix.
  2. The said deceased at the time of his death was possessed of property within the jurisdiction of your Honourable Court of the probable value of $550.00.
  3. The inventory and valuation hereto annexed marked "B" is to the best of petitioner's knowledge information and belief a just and true inventory and valuation of the property estate and effects of said deceased at the time of his death as far as petitioner can at present ascertain.
  4. No Probate of any Will nor Letters of Administration to the estate of the said deceased have been granted to any person.

Petitioner therefore prays that Letters of Probate of the Will of said deceased may be granted to her.
And as in duty bound she will ever pray etc.
Dated the 1st. day of December A.D. 1936.

This is the Will on paper writing ?????? and referred as in the affidavit of William B. Skinner (the name Peter Miskell? had been stroked out. The initials of RHT appear twice. Once by the name William B. and once by Skinner) sworn before me this 31st. day of December A. D. 1936.

"A"

This is the last Will and Testament of me, Marldon A. Bastow, of St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland, merchant.
I first order and direct that all my just debts and testamentary expenses and death duties be first paid, after which the following disposition of my estate shall be made.

I give devise and bequeath to my wife, Fannie Jane Bastow, all the property of whatever nature or description and wherever situated of which I die possessed. And I hereby nominate and appoint my wife, Fannie Jane Bastow, to be the sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former wills and codicils.

In witness whereof I the said Testator have this 20 day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty four at St. John's aforesaid hereunto set my hand.
